Attracting Inspiration
October 23, 2009
To understand what creates inspiration, you must understand what everyone means when they say you have to be happy or have strong emotions surrounding something to attract it.
To activate the law of attraction, you must be aware of the trance state you are in.
Here’s how it works: there are only TWO states we are in at any given time: EGO or God consciousness.
EGO is often referred to as “Easing God Out” and in this place, we are in a perpetual state of deep fear and control. Most of the time when people create a Goal list or write down what they want to have happen ~ they are in this state. And, what happens is that – well actually – nothing. Because in this state, there is a pretend connection with spirit, but in actuality, we are holding onto our desires in the state of EGO.
Once I had a client come to me frantic to start a relationship. She was convinced that she was ready and she was ready to convince me too. The truth is, if you’re trying to convince someone that you’re ready to use the law of attraction you’re probably not. You can’t attract your goals in a frantic state because you’re not in the right trance. We “Ease God Out” when we try to create from a place of frantic desire, blocking our potential to attract.
She had not allowed room for spirit to work with her, so her EGO trance was blocking her ability to attract.
Frequently by the time I see my clients, I’m met with a shrill voice that says “Buuuutt, I let GO already!”
Hmmmm, really?
We are all in a state called TRANCE. The one I described above is the ego trance, but it comes with many names: scarcity, fear, anger, desperation… you get the idea. To get on the right track, you need to re-program your thinking and step out of the EGO trance.
I do a free monthly MP3 meditation available to my newsletter subscribers. This month, November, the free download is about stepping into the TRANCE of spirit – which is all about attracting inspiration – hence the name of the meditation!
To step into it, you must center yourself. And, those who are master manifesters, happen to be those who can step into this state instantly – that Trance is the God trance.
How the spirits can help your life

How the Spirits Can Help You with Your Life
Last year, my dear friend, Julie, was in dire straights. She had just been dumped by another guy, a powerful Hollywood agent who had, quite honestly, ignored her and her needs quite a bit.
She came to me and asked for help. Her pattern with men had been a miserable one. She met and married a rock superstar ten years prior, and their five-year marriage finally ended when he admitted that he’d been having an affair the entire time. For her, the worst of it was that there had been many others and she hadn’t known.
How could I not have known?
Julie lamented.
I shrugged. Whatever pattern you’re doing, it is in an attempt to heal something. So there is a good reason. If you’re dating cheaters, someone cheated in your history or had a fear of it. Julie shook her head. My parents are happily married – forty years happy! It can’t be that. I was referring to her mother’s mother.
What about your grandmother?
I didn’t know her. She died when I was three.
In that moment, I felt a powerful presence. It was Julie’s grandmother. Her message was clear: Don’t make the mistakes I did.I went on to relay to Julie the message from her grandmother. She had married a man who cheated on her for her entire life. She didn’t want that to be Julie’s fate. She wanted Julie to have better.
I have no way of finding out if this is true.
Julie said.I don’t know if that matters here.
I said. What is important is that you keep leaving the cheaters, and your grandmother never did.
In my experience in working with multi-generational healing like this, the inherited challenge always skips a generation. If you’re lucky enough to have a grandparent alive, find out their story. Often we are playing out the healing that they never could do.
Julie made this connection instantly, but she wanted to be in a relationship. She pointed to the Divine Love Intention Candle Kit that sat behind me.
I guess I need that, don’t I?
I disagreed. If anything, the Healing Intention Kit would be more appropriate to quickly clear the remnants of this pattern.
In the reading, Julie’s grandmother gave her permission to no longer have to work on healing this family wound. It was done. She was proud of Julie for leaving a situation that was intolerable. As a result, she told Julie to find a man who would be dedicated to her.
This story has a wonderful ending. Julie agreed with me and worked with the Healing Intention Candle Kit, as well as her therapist. Six months later, a guy she had been friends with for over a decade phoned her. They had always been crossing paths, but the timing was never right…he in a relationship when she wasn’t and vice versa. This time, however, they were both free. In one phone call, he announced his true feelings for her. He’d loved her for years.
Twenty-four hours later, he was on a plane from Vancouver. They have not been separated since.

Expectation Is Key: Law OF Attraction
September 11, 2008
Let’s talk law of attraction.
What you think about you bring about, right? Hmm, not always.
Here’s the key: you must EXPECT that the very thing you are focusing on will happen!
My friend, Katherine Woodward Thomas, in her book, Calling In The One, terms it “holding the high watch.”
Years ago, when I needed $3,000 desperately to pay my bills, I began my journey into this work. I wrote out checks for all my bills, put them in the envelope, stamped them and put them on my table. I had set my intention to draw in this money, and then I prepared for its arrival.
Someone asked me where I was going to get this imaginary cash.
I replied, “From wherever it is now.”
And it did arrive…thanks to an intention I had set months prior.
I had referred a friend of mine to a lucrative speaking and consulting assignment. I had not heard anything, so I completely forgot about it. But the day after I placed my checks out to be paid, a check arrived for $3,100. My friend had gifted me 10% of her job!
I just EXPECTED something to happen. And this is the secret I want to share with you.
What are you expecting today? Whatever it is, prepare for it. Do everything you can to get ready!
Imagine, for a moment, expectant parents. They have just learned to expect their first child…they’re very happy. What do they do after the news? They start to get the baby’s room ready. Why? Because they’re in EXPECTATION of the child. They don’t wait until the baby arrives to prepare the baby’s room.
It’s called expecting, because the arrival is imminent.
Are you starting to catch my drift?
As you probably know, I recently launched my online store, ToriHartman.com. Part of my intention in creating my products was to serve as daily reminders for my customers to EXPECT miracles. My products are tools that support the arrival of your intentions.
To manifest the life of your dreams, you must be in harmony with your expectations.
Get into harmony with the belief that what you desire is already in the bag. And if you choose, my products will serve as daily reminders. May the law of attraction be with you!

Who Will Our Next President Be?
August 20, 2008
I was interviewed on a conservative radio program, and then, on a liberal radio program. Same day. Same question.
Who will our next president be?
“You’re psychic,” they say. “Tell us your prediction.”
Now, for some folks, the pressure would be on. Nerves, you know?
“It doesn’t really matter all that much, does it?” came my reply. And I meant it.
Whoever is sworn into office in January 2009 is going to have the toughest four years of his life. This is not some mild pickle we’re in. An entire nation has lost morale. There is a general pallor that has shaded over people. The planet is rebelling.
And I’m supposed to step up and be positive?
As a nation, we’re in a situation akin to standing on the beach before a tsunami or thinking Hurricane Katrina is just a passing shower. Energetically, a storm’s a-brewin’.
So, what do you do?
Understand that the planet is like a person. It has been warning us for a while.
Ever notice that when you don’t get a lesson it just keeps on coming? I know that’s true for me. If I don’t want to see something, I can very effectively stick my head in the sand. And it works! Really well. For a while.
We can’t do that anymore. We can’t blame one person in one office. We can’t possibly believe that any one person is going to change the tide. It has to be a whole mess of us. The whole lot. When you hear folks, like Joe Vitale, say meditate – do it. Immediately, we have to start imagining a better world and creating it.
Visualize peace and security. Bless the president…whoever it is. Let’s stand for something again.
It doesn’t matter who our next president is going to be.
Remember, we have set up our leaders to be poker players. There is no way we can read what is really going on behind the façade. It’s time to stop the don’t-blame-me-I-voted- for-so-and-so game and face our mess. We have four years of clean-up ahead of us. Yes, all of us.
When the tsunami hit or Katrina was in full force or the towers were in rubble, I can pretty much guarantee not ONE person was concerned about the President of the United States. That came later, after survival and shock.
Then we began to place the blame, because it’s not as frightening as the realization that something so devastating can happen randomly. It’s easier to blame than to sit with the pain and loss. It’s easier to blame than to think we had done something bad to deserve tragedy.
Ask anyone who worked for the Red Cross during Hurricane Katrina, and they’ll tell you that Wal-Mart trucks carrying free supplies reached the victims before our own government.
Here’s another risk. Ready?
We choose our lessons, but not how we will learn them. Want patience? You’ll encounter long lines. And the list goes on. No one prays for a disaster. People pray or wish for things, but sometimes, the road there is uncomfortable.
I knew a woman who prayed for a happy marriage, and her husband left her. Now, after going through hell and back over that loss, she is finally happily married.
The moral? We create what we need. Think long and hard about what we have created.
My thoughts? Our planet is crying out in pain. We may not have “started” it, but with knowledge comes responsibility.
Let’s all begin to pray for love and unity. That is the way we find one another again after a disaster. Let’s not be attached to the person in the White House. Let’s be attached to love and healing.
So we’ll all wake up on a Wednesday this November and find ourselves with a new regime. No matter which lever you pull, make a firm commitment to be in this together. All of us. Then, whoever is in the White House rolling up his sleeves can turn to us to for help.
Namaste.

Hard Sell; Don’t Sell Your Self Short
August 14, 2008
Pet Peeve
Ready?
My pet peeve is the hard-sell.
A few months ago, my friend Morey offered me a chance to buy a table at one of his networking meetings. It was $100 for the night, and we “sponsors” would spend the evening introducing ourselves and our products.
Okay. So the yuck factor was high for me on this. I am a psychic. Can you imagine my pitch? Hi, I’m a psychic…I work with people to transform their lives…blah blah blah.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I love what I do, and I find it very rewarding. I love my clients. I’m very blessed. But typically, I’m not someone who sells my wares at fairs or carnivals. I’ve designed my products to work personally with the people who own them. The people who are attracted to my work are driven to create something extraordinary, and they find the key in an Intention Candle or piece of Chakra Vortex Jewelry.
That said, I let Morey sell me. I truly didn’t want to do this, but he’s a master salesman.
So there I was at this event, and every city slicker was there. I mean, we had the snake oil salesmen and people offering the LAST CHANCE at property. Then there was the guy who would mentor you for about $10,000, because if you really wanted transformation, you could ONLY work with him.
Finally, the slickest of the slick got up to address a packed room. The pitch began…sad childhood, no money, worked his way through college, lost everything in the dot.com crash, wife left him, etc.
Then, he found a mentor who showed him the way out.
After two hours (no kidding), he started the hard-sell: If you want change, it’s not eight thousand dollars… not four thousand…no, for you who sign up tonight, and there are only 15 slots, it’s eight hundred dollars…that’s right…how much is all this worth?Half the room had left by that time, and then the lights came up, and I was astonished to see 15 people rushing to the table to sign up for this mentorship program.
I turned to Morey.
“What the…?” I asked. “It feels really phony.”
“But it works,” came his reply.
No. I thought. No. You missed the point. Who cares if it’s effective if it’s not ethical and you’re snowing people?
Don’t get me wrong…I really admire some of the hard-sell gurus. I love their work, but I don’t believe that anyone has my answer.
And when I tell people that the hard-sell thing doesn’t feel right, they hold up a hand and say, “If you want to sell your products, you have to ask people for their business.”
But I think there comes a time when we have to say no to the hard-sell. Customers are smart, and it’s only a matter of time until they catch on.
For example, in the late 1980s, I traveled the country and did personal appearances in department stores. I had written a fashion style book and often spoke to crowds about the latest trends. Within a few years, every clothing label began sending out reps and calling them “special appearances.” That killed that business.
Later, I was invited by a major gossip magazine to give negative commentary about the way people dressed. I couldn’t do it. I don’t like hurting people, even people I don’t know.
My editor was aghast, “What? We could sell thousands of copies of the book!”
Maybe. But it wasn’t authentically who I was. It wasn’t me.
So maybe the guy who sold those 15 people had no problem sleeping at night. People sell out every day.
But don’t do it. Don’t sell who you are. Stand for something, or you will stand for nothing. Be true to you. Be a person of honor. It still matters.

Fear: Ride The Wave
August 7, 2008
Waiting for the Wave…
A client phoned the other day worried about the business decisions he’d made. He was in upset because he’s been at a job that he termed “an under-earning situation.”
I reminded him that during the past year he left a 20-year marriage and was confused and disoriented when he first took that job. He did not make a bad decision, he made the best one at the time. Who he is today is someone that doesn’t fit there.
“What do I do?” he asked.
“Wait for the wave,” I said.
“Huh?”
I laughed with him. Sometimes, being psychic is a strange experience.
A few weeks ago, I was out with a few friends. We were chatting and then, out of nowhere, I turned to the bartender and asked when he was leaving for Fiji.
He shook his head and asked me, rather confused, “Do I know you?”
I had pulled an “oops.” Sometimes without knowing it, spirit talks to me and I think that I’ve had a conversation with someone, when in fact, we’ve never met. I try to keep this at a minimum to avoid freaking people out. I’ve learned to ask questions.
This guy was in a similar place to my client, Pete. He didn’t know what to do, if he should go. There were a few variables.
He was a surfer. I asked him what he did after he paddled out on his board.
“I wait for the wave” he replied.
I waited. He nodded and got it instantly.
Teasing, I said, “So you don’t wonder what you can do to make the wave come or if there ever will ever be another wave in your lifetime or if…”
He waved for me to stop, laughing, and then shrugged as he wiped down the bar. “It always comes if you wait long enough.”
When we are lost, the key is to wait it out. I’m not talking about doing nothing.
I’m saying that after we make our request to the universe to give us signs (and I often ask that they be billboards, so I don’t miss them), we have to wait for the answer…or the wave.
And here’s another part to the surf analogy: when you ride a wave, it’s the only zone you can be in at that time. You must be present. Your entire being must be in it.
We are always doing the best we can in any given moment, but remember this: even for a surfer, no one can expect to be in balance at all times. Life is about being out of balance and stepping back into it.
Remember that no matter what is going on in your life, you must determine where you are and how to get into the zone.
Are you:
Turning the board into position?
Paddling?
Are you too early? Are you unprepared?
Are you too late? Did you miss this wave?
Are you up? Did you catch the wave?
Wiping out?
Riding the wave?
In the barrel?
Coming to shore?
Here’s how to bring yourself into alignment no matter where you are:
Getting into position? You may be changing directions and not sure how to do this next part. This is change.
If you are paddling, focus on the next intended action. Keep paddling.
Scrambling for the wave? Slow down and take stock. Is the moment right? Check for typos, so to speak. Look for mistakes that make you look unprepared. If you feel a panic right now, you may be trying to gain momentum in something that’s not ready to happen.
Miss the wave? Forget this part. Don’t dwell on it. It’s wasted time. That was not your wave, not your moment. “If I had bought that property five years ago…” Well, you didn’t. Timing is everything. Again, accept that wasn’t your wave.
Did you catch it? Check within. Where are you? What are you truly feeling? Get excited. This is your moment. Try to relax. Often we confuse excitement with worry.
Wiping Out? Yeah, go ahead and chuckle. It’ll happen. Get back on the board and paddle.
Are you riding the wave? In the barrel? Smile, enjoy and have fun. Feel the exhilaration of this time. Be in the moment. You are in the zone. This is the reward.
Coming into shore? How will you step off your board? Will you fall? Crash into shore? Slide into shore? Go back out? Take a break?
No matter what phase you’re in, there is a different approach to each. It is easy to see that waiting for the wave is the place to do nothing but meditate. This is when the universe is going to send you someone or something that will get you up and running again.
And take heart. This is a cycle we’re all on. And once you know where you are, you can determine what to do. Each place has a very real action. Rest assured that you are in motion, even if it doesn’t feel like it.
